Service work

Deindustrialisation has pushed millions of people into low wage, low productivity work in the service sector. These workers are increasingly becoming recomposed in larger, more concentrated nodes — from pub complexes to cathedral-like warehouses.

The capacity of this new service class to organise is the key determining factor that will define if and how workers reassert themselves politically in the deindustrialised global core over the decades to come.
